re:member: Tobias Schramm (1972 – 2016)

We're getting closer and closer to the 10th re:publica but before it all kicks off we, again, want to pause and reflect. Over the past years, the re:publica community has mourned the loss of several of its members.

During the evening of 2 February 2016, the news of Tobias Schrammers's passing began circulating (here and here). He was only 43 years old.

On the web, Tobias is predominantly known as @schlenzalot. His tweets were once described as the skipping rope of sophistication and entertained with their subtle everyday observations. He used his blog "Mehr Platz für Worte" for longer pieces and also covered topics suggested by his followers. Tobias also worked at a marketing agency, whose staff lovingly described him as a "digital futurist". In the end though, Twitter was his real home on the web and it mourned his passing (here and here).

At re:publica 2013, schlenzalot was part of the big, The Last Supper inspired, Twitter panel, which looked back in amusement at the early years of the network.

We dearly miss Tobias "schlenzalot" Schramm and his tireless sense of humour.
